Professor Freddy Boey Yin Chiang, President of CityU, warmly welcomed and congratulated the CityU Tiger students for embarking on the path to success. He accentuated the significance of acquiring knowledge beyond mere exam preparation and the benefits of learning through innovation at CityU.

“As CityU Tigers, you will find that your advantages will not be just academic excellence,” said President Boey. “Your willingness to learn from different cultures and people from around the world will make you mature graduates.” CityU will dramatically increase the number of overseas internships to enrich its students’ learning experience, he added.

Professor Lee Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President, said that the CityU Tiger programme has developed into a vibrant platform that nurtures talents and fosters the personal and professional growth of CityU’s elite students since its launch in 2021, equipping them with a well-rounded skill set to thrive in the fast-changing world.

Professor Johnny Ho Chung-yin, Director of the Knowledge Transfer Office, talked about CityU’s comprehensive support for the cultivation of entrepreneurial talent, including the large-scale innovation and entrepreneurship programme – HK Tech 300.

In his opening address, Professor Kenneth Lo Kam-wing, Director of the Talent and Education Development Office, highlighted two new initiatives under the CityU Tiger programme to maximise the Tiger students’ exposure outside the classroom: CityU Tiger@Community and CityU Tiger Crash Courses 101.

CityU Tiger@Community aims to enable Tiger students to have a positive impact on society while simultaneously nurturing essential leadership and communication skills and fostering valuable connections throughout their university journey. It offers a wide range of community service opportunities tailored to students’ interests.

CityU Tiger Crash Courses 101 is a new dynamic venture crafted to cultivate a culture of peer-to-peer knowledge sharing among elite students at CityU. Expert Tiger mentors from diverse areas will plan and deliver one-off, small-class courses to share their skills and passion with their Tiger peers. This initiative will provide immersive and interactive learning opportunities for the students to explore new interests and broaden their perspectives.
