CityUHK climbs to 54th globally and 3rd locally in Best Global Universities Rankings, with ten academic disciplines ranked 1st in Hong Kong

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has achieved outstanding results in the 2025–2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings, placing 54th among 2,250 universities worldwide — a significant leap of 25 places from last year. CityUHK now ranks 9th in Asia, up three places, and 3rd in Hong Kong, rising one spot, reflecting its growing competitiveness on the global academic stage.
CityUHK has ten academic disciplines ranked 1st among Hong Kong universities, and 15 academic disciplines placed among the global top 50, with Materials Science, Physical Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and Energy and Fuels making it into the global top 10, highlighting the University’s commitment to research excellence.

Among the various ranking indicators, the University excelled in the percentage of publications among the top 10% most cited, ranking 15th globally, reflecting the strong international impact of its research output.
