More effective control over the fabrication of semiconductors using nanomaterials for various applications to enhance global sustainability is the principal aim behind an exciting project that has helped earn Professor Zhang Hua of CityUHK a highly prestigious Croucher Senior Research Fellowship.

Three research projects by CityUHK outstanding scholars have been awarded funding under the 2024/25 NSFC and RGC Collaborative Research Scheme, amounting to over HK$8.8 million. The number of funded projects for this exercise at CityUHK was tied for the highest in Hong Kong. Additionally, five CityUHK scholars have been awarded funding from the 2024/25 NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme, with total funding exceeding HK$6 million.

Researchers at CityUHK debuted four projects at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2024 and achieved outstanding results, winning five awards, including one Semi-Grand Prix and four Gold Medals.

Five research projects from CityUHK were granted funds from the HKSAR Government’s RAISe+ Scheme. This demonstrates CityUHK’s commitment to promoting excellence in high-quality research and innovation, driving the transformation of the University’s world-class scientific research into applications, thereby creating commercial and social value.

Researchers from CityU received 36 awards at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. This is the third year running that CityU has received the highest number of awards among local institutions.

An award ceremony was held by Clarivate at CityU on 29 March, commending 29 CityU scholars for being named Highly Cited Researchers for 2022, placing CityU 50th worldwide in this citation ranking.

Professor Hu Jinlian and Professor Zhu Yuntian have been elected as the 2022 class of Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors.

A MoU was signed between CityU and the Futian District People’s Government, Shenzhen on 29 November. The occasion marked a new milestone for the cooperation between CityU and the Futian District People’s Government in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.
