Staff and students at CityU will partner up for the third time with students from Mary Rose School for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in 2022 to promote greater social integration through sports.

Once again President Way Kuo of CityU has led a team of around 240 athletes in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, which was held on 24 October. President Kuo has run the Hong Kong marathon with a CityU delegation for 12 consecutive years, except in 2020 because of Covid-19, exemplifying CityU’s spirit of excellence in both academics and sports.

Distinguished cellist Mr Ray Wang and a group of exciting young musicians performed famed classical masterpieces at “Fly with Rhythms”, the opening concert for the CityU Arts Festival 2021 at CityU on 8 October.

New students were warmly welcomed at the University Welcoming Ceremony, held on campus and online by CityU on 24 August.

Three outstanding undergraduates from CityU overcame keen competition to win HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship for 2020/21.
Four students from CityU won the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021, receiving HK$150,000 each for activities including overseas exchange, local internship and mentorship programmes.

CityU was granted a Gold Campus Award for 2021 under the Exercise is Medicine? On Campus (EIM-OC) programme and was selected for a 2021 Covid-19 Conqueror badge this year.

Students at CityU have been continuing their studies during the coronavirus epidemic thanks to CityU’s online learning platform, called CityU-Learning.

Staff and students were given a very warm welcome when they returned to campus at the start of the new semester on 13 January at CityU.

The CityU squash team won the men’s overall championship, as well as the championship and 1st runner-up in the men’s singles in the elite group of the 3rd All China University Squash Competition in China.
