CityU Council Chairman Sir Gordon Wu has resigned
The Chairman of the University Council has written to the Government announcing his resignation as Chairman of the Council of City University of Hong Kong. His reason for tendering his resignation was that he wished to avoid a possible conflict of interest arising as a result of his appeal against a previous Town Planning Board decision concerning one of his major projects; the possible conflict of interest arising as a result of the decision of the Board to appoint a member of staff of the University to the appeal panel. During Sir Gordon’s tenure, the University has laid the foundation for its future progress and development including plans for the transition to a four year undergraduate curriculum and the expansion of our campus buildings and facilities. The University has already submitted to the UGC its plans for the structure of the new four year degree and construction of our new facilities is about to commence. It is unfortunate that our Council Chairman is leaving at this time but we will continue with our mission to provide quality professional education and to enhance knowledge for the benefit of the community of
