Mr Chung Shui-ming appointed the new Chairman of the University Council of
Mr Chung Shui-ming, GBS, JP, has been appointed Chairman of the University Council of City University of Hong Kong for one year.
Mr Chung has served on the Council for more than eight years and has held the position of Deputy Chairman since 2004. He served as Treasurer from 1999 to 2003 and was concurrently Chairman of the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees. Under his leadership, the University was able to maintain a healthy financial position in a very adverse economic environment. Mr Chung chaired the Working Group on Associate Degrees and was instrumental in arriving at a solution which ensured a future for the Associate Degrees and set the framework for the establishment of the Community College of City University. More recently he has chaired the Strategic Development Committee and helped craft the new university Mission Statement.
Professor H K Chang, University President, said he was pleased with Mr Chung’s appointment. “Mr Chung is a friend and supporter of the University of long standing. The University has derived major benefits from his hard work, dedication and vision. We are delighted that Mr Chung has agreed to take up this important appointment and we look forward to working, under his leadership and guidance, with him in the future,” Professor Chang added.
