CityU's response to the Common English Proficiency Assessment Scheme results
Responding to the release of the Common English Proficiency Assessment Scheme results by UGC on July 27, a CityU spokesman said CityU is very pleased with the participation rate of its graduating undergraduate students in the scheme and the overall scores obtained. A total of 1,463 CityU students took part in this year’s IELTS, up from 1,357 students in 2004-05. The average overall score of 6.40 was higher than the 6.35 achieved a year earlier. “The improved results demonstrate that our emphasis on English-language training through courses offered by our English Language Centre and Department of English and Communication has produced results,” a spokesman said. “Moreover, our focus on enhancing an internationalized education environment also has helped.”
