Distinguished French scholars to deliver lectures at CityU

Three renowned French scientists, including a Nobel Laureate, will deliver public lectures at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) as part of the France-Hong Kong Distinguished Lecture Series.

Materials scientist Professor Jacques Livage of the Collège de France will deliver the sixth lecture of the series titled “Bio-inspired Nanostructured Materials” on 11 March. Nature offers a wide variety of nanostructured biomaterials that are highly competitive in terms of their practical applications with the most advanced man-made materials. Professor Livage, a Member of the French Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of India, will present an overview of the most recent developments in the field. 

The lecture series, co-organised by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong, French Academy of Sciences and CityU, is part of the celebration programme of CityU’s 25th Anniversary. Other distinguished scholars, Professor Pierre Corvol, President and Chair of Experimental Medicine, Collège de France, and Professor Albert Fert, a 2007 Nobel laureate in physics and Professor at the Collège de France, will deliver lectures on 7 May and 21 October respectively.

The lectures are open to the public. Professor Livage’s lecture will be held from 4:30pm – 6:00pm on 11 March (Wed) at the Multi-media Conference Room, 4/F Cheng Yick-chi Building, CityU.
