In the 2009 personnel review exercise at City University of Hong Kong, 43 Instructors, whose contracts will expire at the end of June this year, were considered by the University. Of the 43, 9 of them have been recommended for re-appointment for two years. The management of City University of Hong Kong decided at a meeting today that the employment contracts of the remaining 34 Instructors will all be extended for a period of one year. The University will immediately set up a review committee, comprising three Vice-Presidents, five Deans and the relevant Department Head, to conduct and complete the review of all 34 cases as soon as possible. Those who pass the review will be recommended for re-appointment for a period of two years. This management decision also applies to the 12 Lecturers and Teaching Fellows who have not been recommended for two year re-appointment in the current exercise.
