Explore CityU's unique Discovery-enriched Curriculum at Information Day 2017
City University of Hong Kong (CityU) will introduce its award-winning Discovery-enriched Curriculum (DEC), its advanced teaching and research facilities, and its vibrant campus life to secondary school students and parents at Information Day on 14 October.
The groundbreaking DEC reinvents the undergraduate curriculum by integrating research and teaching, and provides students with the opportunity to make an original discovery while studying at CityU. A team of dedicated faculty and staff has recently received the 2017 Team Award for Teaching Excellence from the University Grants Committee for the DEC.
Visitors can explore the essence of the DEC during Information Day by visiting an innovative project developed by CityU students and a start-up established by graduates who have turned their discoveries made under DEC into practical solutions addressing problems found in daily life.
In addition, prospective students can obtain the most up-to-date information about the University’s developments and its undergraduate programmes. Under the theme “Professional, Creative, For the World”, a series of activities including exhibition booths, interactive workshops and student performances will be held by the College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, School of Creative Media, School of Energy and Environment, and School of Law.
Admission talks and programmes briefings will be arranged at which secondary school students will have the chance to learn more about admission requirements, interview tips, individual programmes and career prospects.
In addition, interested students can have a taste of authentic veterinary education via the Canine Critical Care Training Manikin (“Critical Care Jerry”) and canine skeleton at the booth of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences.
The School of Creative Media will showcase outstanding video and animations created by students, and there will be tours to various learning centres and other facilities, including studios in the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre, English Language Centre, the Library and the student residence.
