SEE PhD student Mr. Oluwafemi Ebenezer ADEYERI, co-supervised by Prof. Wen Zhou and Prof. Xuan Wang, published a research paper entitled “Minimizing uncertainties in climate projections and water budget reveals the vulnerability of freshwater to climate change” in One Earth. This work addresses the critical issue of global water scarcity and its implications for agriculture, food security, and human sustainability. The study of shortages or surpluses in water storage due to climate and land use change will impact water supply and may enhance or decrease the efficiency of hydrological and agricultural systems. Policymakers need to consider the effects of water storage changes when formulating climate change adaptation or mitigation strategies for different subsystems, as well as the potential implementation of sustainable land management approaches that promote ecosystem services and safeguard biodiversity.
