A handbook for university students -- written by university students -- is now available at the First-Year Student Support Centre from 10 to 28 September.

"This book is a worthwhile read," said Professor Edmond Ko, Vice-President of Education and Dean of Students, at the book launch on 10 September. "But just reading is not enough. How much you can get from university life depends on how much effort you make."

A Book for University Students (BUS) was written by university students, and is published by CELT. Under the guidance of BUS Chief Editor Dr Anna Kwan, who is also the Senior Teaching

Development Coordinator at CELT, CityU students contributed to the book by sharing their university experiences with freshmen. "

 

 

This book allows freshmen to learn from the experiences of senior students," said Dr Kwan. "And in the writing of the book, senior students were able to reflect and plan for their future."

 

 

Freshmen can pick up the book at the First-Year Student Support Centre from 10 to 28 September (Mondays to Fridays, 12:30-2:00pm) and at the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) after 28 September (Mondays to Fridays, 8:30am to 5:30pm). At the launch ceremony, Professor Edmond Ko signed the book and offered his best wishes to all freshmen.

 

 

A VCD version of the book will soon be available. The VCD will feature four key aspects of university life: academic results, relationships with teaching staff, extra-curricular activities and part-time jobs.
