The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) strives to train generations of responsible intellectuals and leaders through its general education and specialised courses. Some of the faculty members are not only devoted to but also innovative in quality education. Their teaching is well-recognised by the College, the University, and the public.
University Grants Committee (UGC) introduced the annual UGC Teaching Award in 2011 to honour those who excel in teaching in the UGC sector. The Award does not only recognise past and present teaching performance and achievements, but also the teachers' leadership in and scholarly contribution to teaching and learning within and across universities. The awardees are expected to become "ambassadors of good teaching" to collectively make a real and sustained impact in promoting teaching excellence.
CityUHK introduced the Teaching Excellence Awards (TEAs) in 1993 to acknowledge and reward excellent teachers in the University, promote and nurture best teaching practices, and identify the best candidates for the UGC Teaching Award and nurture potential candidates for future selection.
