CityUHK’s Inaugural STEM Career Fair Sparks Networking Opportunities
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) held its first-ever STEM Career Fair 2025 on 17 January.

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) held its first-ever STEM Career Fair 2025 on 17 January. College of Science (CSCI) joined hands with the College of Computing, College of Engineering, School of Energy and Environment in organising the Fair, which emerged as the largest gathering of its kind at CityUHK. The Fair encouraged students to explore career aspirations and learn about the latest industry trends. It provided an excellent platform for employers to engage with budding talent in the realm of computing, energy and environment, engineering, science and technology.

71 companies across 16 industries, including construction, IT, electronics, utilities, engineering, retail, and testing and certification, participated in the Fair, offering over 3,300 job opportunities for students. Noteworthy participants included Accenture, Arup, Biel Crystal (HK) Manufactory Limited, CATL from Fujian, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Gammon, Goertek from Shandong, HK Electric, HAECO, KPMG, Deloitte, NAMI, PCCW HKT, PwC, Siemens, SGS Hong Kong Limited, SmarTone and Towngas. Their presence and engaging booths enriched the Fair.

A networking lunch brought together 120 industry partners, faculty members and distinguished guests, and fostered dialogues and connections that are bound to resonate after the Fair’s conclusion. Ir Eric Ma, President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), shared his valuable insights on industry development at the event, enriching the discussions and interactions.

Complementing the bustling fair atmosphere was a series of enlightening and thought-provoking professional seminars. For example, Mr. Dale Johnstone, Chief Information Security Officer at various major global organisations, presented a talk titled “Cyber-Physical Security Convergence: Security on Threats beyond Boundary”, delving into the intricate world of cybersecurity. The seminars provided valuable insights into professional fields and enriched the event’s intellectual engagement.

The Fair also featured captivating sessions focusing on industry development, such as “Career Talk: Become a Professional STEM Teacher”, by Mr Chow Kan-hung, Senior Project Administration Officer (Science) from the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government.

With a vibrant blend of industry insights, networking opportunities and knowledge-sharing sessions, the STEM Career Fair 2025 at CityUHK set a promising precedent for fostering collaboration, innovation and excellence in the dynamic fields of STEM.
