The College of Science (CSCI) always provides students opportunities to explore real-world applications of science and technology. On 3 April, about 30 CSCI students and faculty members embarked on an enlightening day trip to Dongguan, immersing themselves in cutting-edge facilities, engaging with industry leaders, and exploring advanced research technologies.
The journey began at ProVista Inno Park, where the CEO of ProVista Group and Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), Mr. Steve Chuang, warmly welcomed the group. The visit featured an introduction to the park’s state-of-the-art facilities, as well as the buildings demonstrating innovation and eco-friendly concepts. Students toured the showroom and R&D laboratories, and had the precious opportunity to chat with Mr. Chuang, gaining valuable insights into the operations of this leading innovation hub.
The group then joined a guided tour and explored the CityUHK Dongguan Campus, where students had a glimpse of the academic environment and facilities available.
The final stop was the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), a large-scale national research facility renowned for its contributions to scientific discovery. Students were introduced to the facility’s advanced technologies and research capabilities, which deepened their understanding of neutron science and its applications in various fields.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to interact with professionals and researchers, fostering connections and expanding their perspectives on innovation and research. The trip was an invaluable experience for all participants, inspiring them to pursue academic and career aspirations with enthusiasm.
