About 80 teachers from 4 different primary schools participated in the Teachers’ Development Day@CityU on 9 November, organised by the Office of the Provost. Being warmly greeted, the visitors attended special talks and workshops designed by CityU colleagues.
To support the event, the College of Science hosted a “Hand Cream Making Workshop: Learn Chemistry Through Hand Cream Making”, conducted by Dr. Alex Wong, Undergraduate Outreach Coordinator of the College and Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry.
Under the guidance of Dr. Wong, participants started DIY their hand cream by heating and mixing different ingredients including jojoba oil and sakura fragrance together, and blending the mixture with a blender. During the process, Dr. Wong also introduced some basic knowledge of colloidal chemistry. All participants enjoyed the workshop and were satisfied to bring home their own handmade hand cream.
