After years of hybrid mode, the College of Science’s (CSCI) UG Information Day finally resumed completely to face-to-face mode on Oct 7, 2023, with hundreds of participants flocking to our booth for the latest admission tips.
Team representatives of the first “CityU Science Patent Challenge” were awarded the patent certificates at the press conference hosted by CSCI on 15 September 2023. The College revisited the outstanding performance of the teams through video and sharing at the press conference, and introduced the details of the 2nd CityU Science Patent Challenge, which is now open for registration.
After delivering online for three years owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fifth Science Summer Camp was resumed face-to-face and successfully held on the CityU campus in Hong Kong on 10-15 July 2023.
Co-organised by the College of Science and the Office of the Provost, the CityU Science Patent Challenge 2022 has attracted talented young inventors from secondary schools to propose creative and feasible ways to solve real life problems. It came to the climax of the Final Pitch on 18 February.
The College of Science co-organised the first lecture of the "Distinguished Lecture Series on Applications of Mathematics in STEAM World"; with the Education Bureau (EDB) on 10 February 2023 and Professor Chi Hou Chan, Acting Provost and Director of State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves, was invited to deliver the lecture on "Wireless Technology". About 400 secondary school principals, teachers and students attended the lecture on CityU campus.
Students from Newman Catholic College visited the College of Science on 26 November to get familiarise themselves with the University and were warmly greeted by faculty and staff members from the College, the Office of the Provost and the Admissions Office.
