The College of Science and the College of Engineering were honoured to receive the delegation of Chang’e 4 Lunar Mission from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China National Space Administration on 23 October 2019. The visit successfully connected national scientists and researchers in the university, creating solid ground for future collaboration in different technological areas.
Professor Raymond Chan, Dean of College of Science, led a delegation visit to the Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital on 14 October 2019 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the hospital to facilitate academic exchanges and research collaborations.
As part of the promotional outreach activities, Dean Chan led another College delegation comprising mathematician, chemists and physicists to Malaysia in September 2019. During the 4-day trip, the delegation visited the University of Malaya, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Universiti Sains Malaysia to meet with senior science faculty members and postgraduate students.
Three students from the College of Science namely Wang Bingchen (Computing Mathematics), Wang Jingyun (Computing Mathematics) and Wu Peilin (Applied Physics) have recently completed their studies in the CityU-Columbia University Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program.
In summer 2019, the College of Science (CSCI) jointly organized four Cultural and Language Immersion Scheme (CALIS) programmes with the College of Engineering. A total of 18 CSCI students took part in one of the progammes run by our UK partner universities including the Edinburgh Napier University, Middlesex University and Sheffield Hallam University.
Ms. Christelle Fung Ka Yee, a third year student from the Department of Chemistry, was awarded the Young Investigator Poster Prize in the Bosch Institute Annual Scientific Meeting, which was held at the University of Sydney on 1 August 2019.
