Professor Michael Yang Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation & Enterprise) and Yeung Kin Man Chair Professor of Biomedical Sciences at CityUHK, has been elected Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) in recognition of his significant contributions to innovation, societal welfare, and economic development.

Thirty-two scholars from CityUHK were named Highly Cited Researchers 2024 by Clarivate, placing the University 29th globally, a leap of 15 places from last year. CityUHK was also ranked 8th in Asia and 2nd in Hong Kong. In terms of faculty size, the percentage of the world’s most Highly Cited Researchers put CityUHK first in Hong Kong for the ninth consecutive year.

CLASS hosted a signature event, titled “CityUHK as a Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Hub – from Sham Shui Po to the World”, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CityUHK on 18 October. Pendry, received the State Pre-eminent Science and Technology Award for 2023 and the 2024 Kyoto Prize in Advanced Technology, respectively, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to technological innovation.

It served as the inaugural event for the Distinguished Lecture Series on Global Sustainability organised by the Office of the Vice-President (Research).

The 2024 William Benter Prize in Applied Mathematics was presented at the International Conference on Applied Mathematics 2024 held at CityUHK from 28 May to 1 June.
