Recently, COM at CityUHK invited five distinguished professionals in the field of communication to serve as adjunct professors. They bring a wealth of experience, vision and expertise in communication to nurture the next generation of creative leaders in the field and strengthen the University's ties with the professional community.

A delegation from Darwin College, University of Cambridge, was warmly welcomed by members of the senior management team at CityUHK on 11 March for discussions on potential collaborations and strengthening ties between the two institutions.

CityUHK's COM hosted an "Anti-scam seminar series" on February 21 to promote awareness and prevention of scams. The event featured an official from the Hong Kong Police Force, who shared insights on current trends and cases related to technology crimes and scams. This initiative aimed to educate the public on prevention strategies, demonstrating a multi-faceted collaboration between the police, academia, and the community.

The COM of the CLASS at CityUHK has partnered with China Unicom on an anti-scam project that utilises big data and AI to combat global telecom scams. This collaboration was recognised as one of the outstanding cases by the World Internet Conference, highlighting CityUHK’s commitment to employing innovative technology to tackle real-world challenges and promote the integration of technology with social responsibility.

The prize presentation ceremony of the CityUHK 30th Anniversary Short Film Competition was held on 9 December to recognise the remarkable achievements of the awardees, marking the conclusion of the competition.

CityUHK's research team conducted surveys in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Wuhan in 2022 and 2024 to gauge attitudes towards autonomous vehicles. The survey identified five key factors influencing public attitudes towards autonomous vehicle technology: efficiency, usability, safety, responsibility planning and employment concerns.

CityUHK has built an extensive cooperative relationship with the University of Cambridge this year. Another two MoUs were signed on 1 November to solidify their commitment to cooperation in academic and research collaboration.

Six outstanding scholars from CityUHK have been awarded funding from the RGC under the 2024/25 Senior Research Fellow Scheme and Research Fellow Scheme, receiving a total of over HK$42 million.

CityUHK is celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a series of activities that bring together faculty, students and alumni for joyful celebrations. Some of these activities extend into the community. The CityUHK 30th Anniversary Short Film Competition welcomes participation from secondary school students in Hong Kong and other GBA cities to deepen their understanding of the University and promote creativity, collaboration and innovation.

COM of CityUHK reached a cooperation agreement with the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University to initiate an undergraduate student exchange programme. This collaboration aims to enhance exchange and co-operation between students from both universities.
