Professor Zhu Qingshi, President of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), talked about Chinese traditional culture and the advancement of science in a lecture titled “Dialogue between Technology and Culture in Everyday life", 19 November, organized by the Chinese Civilisation Centre to celebrate CityU's 20th anniversary.
Professor H K Chang, CityU President, shared his observations on the impact of traditional Chinese culture on Islam with more than 100 staff and students on 2 November.

In the Chinese Civilisation Centre’s Audio-Visual Room on 7 October,CityU President,Professor H K Chang shared his insights on "Islam in China" with an audience of more than 100. Muslims and non-Muslims, students and academics,were attracted to his speech.
Calligraphy by masters of the China Academy of Art is on display at the CityU Gallery until 29 August 2004.
Some 20 archeologists, scholars, researchers and curators from the mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South East Asia and Australia gathered at CityU, 24 and 25 June 2004, to exchange their findings on China's 12th to 15th century ceramics and maritime trade.
About 50 pieces of Buddhist sculpture from the Northern, Sui, Tang, Liao and Song dynasties, and copies of Tang epitaphs are now on display in the exhibition "Compassion and Fascination: Ancient Chinese Buddhist Sculptures" at the CityU Gallery. The exhibition, organized by the Chinese Civilisation Centre, showcases selected works from among businessman Mr W Y Chang's vast private collection.
A collection of 200 ceramic relics, now on display at the CityU Gallery until 8 January, retraces the historical importance of porcelain as China's maritime export to and cultural exchange with the West.
"Representing Cosmic Energy", a collection of artworks by Mr Yang Shanshen, master of the Lingnan style of painting, is now on display at the CityU Art Gallery until 30 September. The exhibition's organizer, Professor Cheng Pei-kai, Director of CityU's Chinese Civilisation Centre, says the title is made up of the keywords to an understanding of Yang's aesthetic world.
