City University's Division of Language Studies collaborated with the Society of Japanese Language Education Hong Kong to present the 6th International Symposium on Japanese Studies & Japanese Language Education, 8 and 9 November. The annual Symposium, including discussion of Japanese dissertations and the improvement of Japanese Education, takes place in a different country each year.

Professor Michael Yang of the Biology and Chemistry Department led a CityU research team to discover an anti-fibrosis and anti-cancer compound called "Fibroscutum" it was announced 3 July. The research project, based on experiments with Wei Jia, an existing Class 1 drug in China, was commissioned by LifeTec Group Limited (LifeTec).
