Professor H K Chang, President, leads a six-member delegation to Beijing from 26-29 January, further strengthening ties with the mainland and opening up opportunities for more academic and diversified collaborations.
More than 150 guests, staff members and students gathered at the Centre for Marine Environmental Research and Innovative Technology (MERIT), 28 January, to celebrate its opening. As the first in the William Benter Distinguished Lecture Series on pure and applied mathematics launched by CityU's Liu Bie Ju Centre for Mathematical Sciences on 26 January 2005, Professor Roger Temam presented "Theoretical and computational problems for the equations of the ocean and the atmosphere".
The University community has supported the fund-raising campaign jointly organized by CityU and UNICEF with great enthusiasm, raising a total of HK$354,530 between 6 and 14 January, to provide education kits for tsunami-affected children. This is a record amount collected by a CityU-wide donation campaign to date.
Beginning 19 January, in cooperation with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong, CityU proudly presents the France-Hong Kong Distinguished Lecture Series, under the auspices of the French Academy of Sciences.
